According to the public relations office report, Dr. Naeimi, the director of the IRIPP, along with Dr. Shahrokhi, the deputy director, and Dr. Marzban, the head of the biological control research department of the IRIPP, paid a visit to the Golestan agricultural and natural resources research and education center on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023.
The Director of the IRIPP and the accompanying delegation attended the Plant Protection meeting of Golestan province, which was also attended by Dr. Ranjbr Aghdam, head of the Plant Protection Organization (PPO), Eng. Nowruzian, Deputy of the PPO, Dr. Barzali, head of the agricultural jihad organization of Golestan province, Dr. Saberi, head of Golestan agricultural and natural resources research and education center, and his deputies, Dr. Rabbani Nasab, head of Golestan plant protection research department, Dr. Haghnama, the manager of plant protection office of Golestan Province, which was held at the Agricultural Jihad Organization of Golestan Province. In this meeting, Dr. Naeimi considered the role of Golestan province as the provider of food security of the country as irreplaceable and stated that Golestan province has a high climate and product diversity and is one of the agricultural poles of the country, and consequently, it faces many plant protection challenges. He referred to the IRIPP's approaches in the field of the management of plant damaging agents, food safety and biodiversity, and preservation of agricultural ecosystems and natural resources, considering the challenges of climate change, lack of water resources, and drought and soil salinity stresses.
Dr. Naeimi added that in the four-year research plan developed in the institute, Golestan province was specially seen and it is supposed to be implemented based on the priority needs of the administrative sector and the basic challenges of the plant protection, research, educational and extension activities of the province. In the end, while emphasizing on the implementation of research and development programs and the development of integrated crop management with emphasis on non-chemical and biological methods, he expressed hope that by training the stakeholders and considering the topic of extension, the use of low-risk pesticides, and preventing the indiscriminate use of chemical pesticides, and the use of biological control agents and non-chemical compounds in the control of pests, diseases and important weeds of agricultural products in the province would be carried out in an optimal way.
In the continuation of this trip, the insectarium, laboratories, facilities of the plant protection research department and center of the province were visited and their requirements were noted. At the end, Dr. Naeimi along with his delegation visited various orchards in the vicinity of Gorgan city and provided recommendations and technical tips to the farmers in the region.
